About

Los Angeles Streetcar Inc (LASI) is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation conceived of in January 2009. LASI is modeled after the successful public-private/non-profit partnerships in Portland and Seattle, which pioneered modern streetcar systems in the western U.S.

LASI is a sole purpose non-profit which functions as a fundraising and advocacy entity focused on advancing the Los Angeles streetcar effort. Additionally, in the early stages, LASI will secure funds to complete the initial planning, environmental review and engineering development phases.

With support from Community Partners©, Councilmember José Huizar’s initiative Bringing Back Broadway, Councilmember Jan Perry, the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles, METRO, and City of Los Angeles, LASI will act as the lead organization to design, build and operate Los Angeles’ streetcar system.

The LASI Board of Directors is a coalition of downtown property owners, civic leaders and community stakeholders responsible for setting policy, assuming financial and legal oversight, and establishing general goals for the organization.
